How?

On the 8th of January 2020 I will post a pdf file on this page. It will be an Indiana Election Petition form for nominating an independent candidate. The official “season” for registered 9th District voters to sign the form starts on January 8th and extends into June. Signing the form in no way obligates the person signing to vote for any particular candidate, or to vote at all for that matter.

It will be rough for an independent to win in the 9th District.

Please print the form, sign and ask others to sign (no more than ten on one form, all must be from the same county in the 9th District), and mail to

Tilford for Congress
PO Box 5033
Bloomington, IN 47407

Over 5,400 signatures with printed names, addresses, and dates are required for a candidate to run as an independent in the fall 2020 election for the US House of Representatives, Indiana 9th District.

If you choose, the name John Tilford will be on the fall ballot for US House of Representatives!

The entertainment value of the debates alone would make it worth your while!

Thank you!
John T

    1. Beth, I so appreciate your comment and enthusiasm. Petition signatures before 8 January will not count. I’m holding off until the 8th to add the petition form to the “How?” page. It’s a pdf form. Most people have the Adobe pdf reader on their PC or Mac. Pop it up, print, sign, print name and address, mail to P.O. box address. Up to ten can sign, but all on one form must registered voters from the same county. Again, THANK YOU! John T

  1. You can count on me for at least one (1) Vote and I will talk to a couple of others. I have known you for a few years and I know you will do a great job if and when your elected. Can’t wait to sign the PDF Form.

  2. John, you have always been an inspiration and good friend!! I wish you the very best in this endeavor. If there is anything Lisa and I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

    1. Les, download just one of the petition form then run some copies. The two-page version available now via the “How?” page has the sign on page first and the second page gives the website for more information and the address to which to send the signed and filled out forms: Tilford for Congress, PO Box 5033, Bloomington, IN 47407. Pass the forms around your Lawrence County friends and neighbors! Thanks!

  3. It sounds like your reasons for running are definitely what our founding fathers thought our representatives and senators should be and do. Don’t know you or anything about you but sure sounds like you are on right track to be a good congressman. I’m sure your opponents will bring out any negatives they can find. I can only hope that our journalists and reporters will be honest in their articles on you. Definitely will sign to get you on the ballot and give you the opportunity to run and if you win to try to straighten out some of the problems in our Government.

    1. Thank you, Mr. Ramsey!
Regarding “skeletons in the closet”, the special background investigations for my top secret clearance did not turn up anything negative. Of course, as you implied, trash can be invented by opponents. We’ll see what happens.

  4. I don’t live in your district. But boy I sure hope you can pull this off! If you are the guy that got my husband to 70% you are quite capable of cutting through the muck in Washington!
